ASSEMBLY
Assembly is a non-profit association dedicated to fostering and celebrating design culture in Newfoundland and Labrador. This group was founded on the belief that good quality design can benefit the well-being of communities and is an important part of cultural life in the province. Towards this end, the mandate of the group is to hold public events, exhibits, competitions, and create publications on the topic of design. The intended effect will be to develop a greater design literacy in the general population, and have members of the public join us in demanding good design.
Fougere Menchenton providers operational funding for Assembly and their initiatives. The non-profit operates autonomously without direct involvement of the firm.
THE WANDERING PAVILION
The first initiative of Assembly, this temporary structure “wanderings” from neighbourhood in neighbourhood with it’s function changing in each location. The pavilion has two main goals:
- Promote an appreciation and understanding of architecture and urban design.
- Give a platform for people to test their ideas about how to make our city better and build community.
We need volunteers to keep this project running. If you are interested in helping us the set the pavilion up, document it’s journey or help facilitate some engagement, we could use your help. If you’d like to get involved, click here. If you’d just like to stay in the loop you can follow us on facebook or twitter. We’re currently planning for 2017, so get in touch if you’ve got an idea.
