Teamsters Union
St. John’s, NL

The Teamsters Union is a Trade Union representing over 120,000 members in varying industries in Canada.  The Teamsters operate by co-operative principles.  Consequently, it was important that the Teamsters Union be built by unionized trades.  For a small building and in a small construction market, like St. John’s, this was a real challenge.  The construction documents had to be carefully crafted to assure a competitive bidding process and high quality work.

The 7,000 sq. ft. office building is located in an office park context.  The building splits the site in half to create a typical office parking area at the street, and a garden courtyard at the rear.  Extensive glazing is used to provide views looking into the garden as well as natural light throughout.  The building contains a large meeting hall, offices and boardrooms.
